Description of Medical Service
A proposal was received for registered podiatric surgeons to access MBS item numbers for surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. This is a limited set of item numbers currently scheduled on the MBS, and which are currently accessible only by medical practitioners. These items cover a range of conditions that reduce health related quality of life by restricting mobility, comfort, function and related comorbidities.Description of Medical Condition
Surgical treatment of a range of foot and ankle conditions including; structural deformities, bone spurs, tendon and soft tissue pathologies, degeneration and arthrosis of the joints, and trauma-related injuries, to improve health related quality of life by relieving pain, increasing mobility and arresting further degeneration.Reason for Application
