1157	The Protocol Advisory Sub-Committee (PASC) discussed the Consultation Decision Analytic Protocol (DAP) for Liquid Based Cytology (LBC) at its meeting on 14 and 15 September 2011. PASC decided to defer the finalisation of the DAP pending further policy advice from the Department in light of the recently announced commencement of the Renewal of the National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP). The Department subsequently recommended that consideration of this application in its current form be suspended until after the outcomes of the Renewal of the NCSP are known. MSAC will be providing advice to Government in relation to the outcomes of the Renewal, which involves an evidence based analysis of a range of screening tests and pathways, the appropriate age range, screening intervals and an economic evaluation of possible future screening pathways for the NCSP. The technology that is the subject of this application is likely to be considered in this context. The Renewal of the NSCP will be undertaken in four stages and it is expected that the final report will be provided in June 2014 for approval through the Australian Health Ministers' Advisory Council .
