Stage 3 - Formulation of Advice to the Minister	This assessment was considered by the MSAC at the 19 May 2004 meeting. The safety and effectiveness of CEA-Scan® has been assessed for imaging of recurrence &/or metastases in patients with histologically proven carcinoma of the colon or rectum. The procedure appears to be safe. However, on the strength of evidence pertaining to the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of CEA-Scan®, public funding should not be supported for this procedure.
