The safety and effectiveness of CEA-ScanŽ has been assessed for imaging of recurrence &/or metastases in patients with histologically proven carcinoma of the colon or rectum. The procedure appears to be safe. However, on the strength of evidence pertaining to the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of CEA-ScanŽ, public funding should not be supported for this procedure.
