The MSAC recommended that, on the strength of evidence pertaining to the efficacy and relative safety of pulmonary thromboendarterectomy for thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, and the life threatening nature of this condition, public funding should be supported for this procedure to be performed in Australia.
