| Stage 2 - Assessment | Completed |
| Stage 3 - Formulation of Advice to the Minister | This assessment was considered by the MSAC at the 13 November 2001 meeting. The MSAC recommends that on the strength of evidence pertaining to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for staging of cervical and endometrial cancer that: 1. Public funding should be supported for MRI staging of histolocially proven cervical cancer at FIGO stages IB or greater following assessment by examination under anaesthesia. 2. At present there is insufficient evidence to support public funding for the MRI in patients with recurrent cervical cancer but further studies may require this issue to be reviewed in the future. 3. Public funding should not be supported for MRI staging of endometrial cancer at this time. |
