Service or technology in this application

177Lu-PSMA-617 is a type of targeted radiation treatment that attaches to a protein called PSMA, which is often found in high levels in advanced prostate cancer. A PSMA PET scan is used to check PSMA levels and see if a person is suitable for treatment with 177Lu-PSMA-617, which is given through a vein.

Medical condition this application addresses

This application is for treatment of adults with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). These people have cancer that has spread, continues to worsen despite hormone treatment, and tests positive for PSMA. They have been treated with hormone pathway inhibitors but have not received taxane chemotherapy. About 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, making it the most common cancer in Australian men. Most men are diagnosed early, but some develop mCRPC despite treatment. This stage of disease usually has the poorest outlook, with studies showing average survival of around 3 to 4 years.
